Named after Francis Scott Key, Francis Scott Fitzgerald passed on December 21, 1940. He died at the young age of 44 from a massive heart attack. Fitzgerald was born on September 24, 1896, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Known for being a writer of the jazz age, he discovered that he was gifted with poetry at the age of 15. His writing began simple as they appeared in the school paper. He was later accepted to Princeton University in 1913.
Throughout his college years, Fitzgerald developed a severe drinking problem. With his unfortunate love life and drinking problem, he dropped out of his junior year in college. Shortly after, he served for World War 1; abruptly his largest regret was the lacking of combat for the war. The Side of Paradise sold Fitzgerald into fame as it was his first published novel.
Being famous led him to live a bold, fun, and chaotic life. His fame allowed him to marry his dream girl Zelda, and start a family. Frances "Scottie" Scott Fitzgerald was the Fitzgerald's first and only child. Time progressed well for the family in 1924 when Fitzgerald wrote his greatest novel: The Great Gatsby. After the release of Tender is the Night, the family began to suffer greatly, turning to alcohol for relief. Life continued to go downhill for the family with several affairs and Zelda becoming diagnosed with a mental illness. After Fitzgerald suffered from a mild heart attack at age 44, he ended drinking overall. Shortly after, he suffered another heart attack ending his life at the young age of 44 years old.
